An End-to-End Solution

Digital Harbor's approach to composite applications involves an end-to-end solution that goes beyond static page-based applications to dynamic component-based solutions, and beyond physical data synchronization and syntax to information relationships and meaning (or semantics) within pieces of data.

Digital Harbor consists of three basic layers of technology:

An Example of Smart Client In Action
Composite UI (Smart Client)
Smart Client provides end-users with a composite interface for consuming live applications and interactive reports, rather than static documents. The goal is to deliver an intuitive user experience that combines the easy navigation and central administration of the web plus the functionality of desktop-style applications. The application encourages ad-hoc business task optimization and collaboration. It enables the end-user to freely attach additional content, documents and other supplemental material relevant to the business application.

Composite Schema (Business Ontology)
Digital Harbor provides a revolutionary new information management layer for semantic integration that sits on top of J2EE application servers and ties application services, processes and rules together using a "schema across systems" called a business ontology. One might think of the business ontology as a virtual warehouse which provides users with the ability to derive more value from existing information by combining it across systems, and provides IT staff with the ability to join applications, workflows, analytics and other middleware tools without writing complex code. The business ontology is based on principles of inference and correlation that exploit relationships among pieces of information to deliver value to users.

Composite Queries (EII - Enterprise Information Integration)
Digital Harbor provides users with composite querying that enables access to multiple databases simultaneously. The value of this approach is that the physical data remains at its source - in the applications and databases where it natively resides - but the relationships across those systems are described logically, so users no longer need to know in which application or database to look. Users can now make inferences that they previously had to do in their heads. For example, a person may not have a location, but a person may work for a company that has a location. Digital Harbor enables them find the answer with no extra work required.
